I was commissioned to create a few covers for an independent Tallahassee based magazine called Southern Scene.
Spring Edition
For the March/April issue, I wanted to invoke the various flowers which bloom in the Florida Panhandle like azaleas and yellow jessamine. I paid homage to Gustave Klimt's 1908 painting, The Kiss, while posing my figures pre-kiss to symbolize the beginning of the year.
"School's Out" Edition
For the May/June issue, I wanted to focus on the outdoors and celebrate the many parks in Leon County. I borrowed the concept of Georges Seurat's 1884 paining, A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte, and focused on the visitors and wildlife at Lake Ella in Tallahassee.
