Continuing from where I left off, I wanted to figure out who/what Cloud Girl was and how I should illustrate her in the future. I decided to look at other artists for inspiration.  and began to illustrate my character using the style of notable illustrators from comic books, fashion and other industries.

Having seen what I liked and did not like about other artist's styles I decided to make up rules for moving forward (in other words a style guide).

With the rules squared away I wanted to figure out how she would look. For this I drew rough gestures based on various figures including Judy Garland, Liza Minnelli and, finally, Audrey Tautou.
With Audrey Tautou as my model I started to add in the activities I brain stormed earlier (and, yes, brain storm is an intentional pun).
I even brought back the huging of the earth picture.
Next I started playing with color and style. First with colored pencils...
...and then digitally.

I played with CG's style (like should the cloud be outlined with pink?)...
...and also experimented with mixing traditional illustration with digital.
I even played with adding texture to the design.

Of course I have only just begun to play with Cloud Girl. This is an ongoing project. To see where I go from here, follow me here on Behance, or on Instagram @lhotka.design (#projectcloudgirl).
